Description
Dried Sphagnum Moss
Conversion to litres once Hydrated
This is an approximate calculation as each batch of the Sphagnum moss will be ever so slightly different, however it is widely accepted as Sphagnum moss can hold up to 20 times its own weight with water, then the rough guide is that 1kg of Dried Sphagnum moss once fully hydrated will make approximately 80 litres of substrate. Due to the harvesting process, so dark brown fibre stems may still be contained within the package, similarly some of the moss may still be compacted from its shipping bale.
Origins
Our Sphagnum Moss ( Sphagnum magellanicum ) is sustainably and renewably sourced from Patagonia within Argentina . After harvesting, the Sphagnum moss is both dried and treated with Gamma Radiation to ensure no grasses or spores are viable once packed.
Uses
The dried moss has a fantastic ability to hold up to 20 times its own weight with water which makes rehydration into a useable substrate quite simple.
