Description
Live count will be for 20 individuals (minimum) of a mix of sizes, please check our delivery information before ordering. We sell in a 20 count of individuals so this should be enough to generally start your own colony of most isopod species. DO NOT RELEASE ANY NON-NATIVE SPECIES INTO THE WILD.
All our Livestock is listed, however when it is shown as out of stock/ 0 stock, then we are culturing it ready for sale for the future, please check back, our stock is updated on an almost daily basis due to this.
Full care datasheet will be available to download as soon as your purchase has been made.
One of the larger species, the Porcellio magnificus , originally from the Mediterranean area, they will survive in a warmer range of temperatures 20°C to 24°C (approx), preferring drier conditions , with basically a Sphagnum Moss hydration station
As always setups should include a rich isopod suitable substrate of decayed hardwood, with an area for hydration (Sphagnum Moss) and calcium source (due to size, the calcium source is very important for healthy culturing). This species will also need more than usual a protein source such as Dried Shrimp. They will also enjoy hides from cork flats or egg trays or similar decor.
Once established the colony will be active (even in the daytime in some cases) and prove great breeders with the mothers actively caring for their young.
